Director of Residential Life: In preparation for the 2018/19 school year, Maui Preparatory Academy is seeking a Director of Residential Life. The ideal candidate will have experience providing leadership in a boarding environment. This individual will be able to perform the following duties: provide oversight of the Residential Life program, supervise and evaluate residential faculty, coordinate and develop the residential life program (including weekend activities), provide oversight and coordination of residential transportation, aid in the management of international student files (including health and educational records), participate in various weekend student activities, and provide oversight of all safety requirement and responsibilities. The successful candidate will also serve as an Advisor within our Upper School program. This role entails meeting with students in an assigned advisory group on a daily basis.

Middle and Upper School Science Faculty: Maui Preparatory Academy is seeking qualified applicants to fulfill a need for multiple positions in our Middle and Upper School Science Department beginning in the 2018/19 school year. Candidates qualified to teach a wide variety of science classes are preferred. Possible place-based class topics include Earth Science, Life Science, Physical Science, Integrated Science 1 and 2, AP Biology, Advanced Chemistry, Advanced Physics, and Environmental Science (with a marine focus). The ability to teach high school math classes would be a plus as well. The ideal candidates will deliver a practical, hands-on approach to their classes, will leverage west Maui’s natural resources and incorporate an “outdoor classroom” philosophy into appropriate portions of the curriculum. Teachers who are well-versed in coaching students to incorporate and develop higher order thinking skills are highly preferred. Individuals with a related master’s or doctorate degree are preferred.

Upper School Math Faculty: Maui Preparatory Academy is seeking qualified applicants to fulfill a growing need in our Math department. In preparation for the 2018/19 school year, Maui Prep will be adding a math faculty position to address an increase in student population. Candidates qualified to teach a wide variety of math will be preferred. Possible math classes include Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus/Trigonometry, Statistics, and AP Calculus. Teachers who are well-versed in coaching students to incorporate and develop higher order thinking skills are highly preferred. Individuals with a related master’s or doctorate degree are preferred.

Lower School Faculty: Maui Preparatory Academy is seeking applications for outstanding Lower School faculty members (grade levels to be determined) for the 2018-2019 school year. Candidates must be able to create a nurturing, rigorous and enjoyable classroom environment. The successful individual must be a well-rounded teacher, comfortable with using a variety of teaching methodologies with a focus on higher-order thinking skills. Candidates should have a degree in Elementary Education or equivalent, minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred. Independent school experience is a plus, but not required.
Working within multi-grade teams, candidates should demonstrate the ability to create interdisciplinary curriculum that sparks the interests and meets the needs of an array of learning styles and needs. Candidates must be inclined to work in a highly collaborative and creative environment and be able to interact with and communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate interest, expertise, initiative, and professional development in the following areas:
• Curriculum: Strong knowledge of upper elementary education curriculum and instructional methodologies, especially in the areas of language arts and STEM, and the proven ability to work cooperatively with faculty to modify and develop curricular materials.
• Student Learning: Demonstrated understanding of multiple learning styles, developmental theories and their implications for practice, and the ability to assess and employ a variety of teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
• Assessment: Expertise with a variety of formal and informal student assessment tools and the ability to communicate student progress to students, parents, and colleagues.
• Technology: The ability to use technology as a tool to enhance student learning. Previous experience with Google Apps for Education is a plus.
• Professional Development: Demonstrated history of professional development and growth, who are reflective practitioners, open to expanding their knowledge of learning theories and classroom techniques.
Preschool Faculty (permanent/full-time): Maui Preparatory Academy is seeking a full-time preschool teacher. Duties include assisting the director and other teachers in providing a nurturing and engaging learning environment for 3- and 4-year-olds. The successful candidate must be able to plan, organize, supervise and implement all aspects of classroom activities. The successful candidate will be expected to provide extended-day supervision on a regular basis. Qualifications include: (1) a post-secondary Child Development Associate degree (CDA) with a minimum of one year experience working in an early childhood program; or (2) successful completion of an organized two-year (sixty credits) college program and certificate in early childhood education; or (3) the equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Must be PATCH (C.A.N.O.E.S.) qualified for the position.

Office Assistant: Maui Preparatory Academy is looking for a reliable, experienced person to join our team that requires a combination of bookkeeping and general office skills.
This is a part-time job to start with the potential to move to a full-time schedule in a supportive office with terrific co-workers; a rewarding job for the right person and there is some flexibility in setting the work schedule.
Primary duties include Accounts Payable and Account Receivable using QuickBooks. Other duties include data entry, answer phones and respond to inquiries, filing records, and other administrative duties.
• Experience with and knowledge of QuickBooks online, MS Word and Excel
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral
• Ability to work independently and focused, as well as work/coordinate with others to get tasks completed
• Good organizational skills

Athletic Coaches: Maui Prep is always interested in hearing from coaches for our various athletic programs. Coaches are paid a stipend at the conclusion of the season. Although there is some flexibility, practices are typically held during the week from about 3pm to 5pm.
