Students working on one-point perspective drawings of the campus

After an extensive overview of the main elements of art and principles of design the art classes at Maui Preparatory Academy are in full swing. This week the 4th grade students have learned one-point perspective and are creating drawings of campus for display at the Maui County Fair.

Students learned basic one-point perspective and then have been applying their understanding to various sketches until they find the one that they would like to turn into their final design. Please visit the Maui County Fair Art section to support our students art work, as well as attend the Art Gallery at Napili Coffee Store and Plaza on October 16th from 5-7pm. This community gallery event will replace the Lower School Arts night; however, will provide community involvement and a relaxing atmosphere to sip a nice beverage and view art work in a gallery setting. Art presented at this gallery will be from students in grades K, 2, and 4. Students in grades 1, 3, and 5 will have art classes starting in October and will have a community gallery in December. Thank you for your support of the arts.

Hooray! I was so excited to see Cameron learning these art basics and groundwork – the same I learned in my high school and college art 101 classes! He came home, grabbed a piece of paper and drew a room using what he had learned from Ms. Fetterly. We’re very excited about the art program this year! Mahalo nui!
