Andrew has been fortunate to live, work and study on five of seven Continents. In over fifteen years as a teacher Andrew has taught American History, Ancient History, Geography, World Cultures, English Literature Spanish, Algebra, Physical Education, English Language Learning, Character Education, and Digital Media.  This is his ninth year at Maui Preparatory Academy.

At Maui Preparatory Academy in School Year 2017-18 Andrew serves as Admissions Coordinator.  He also teaches Digital Media, and he especially loves coaching the Surf Team, which will be vying for the Boys and Girls Championships this year.

At University Andrew focused on History and Latin American Studies, with forays into economics, philosophy, and literature. He holds a Bachelor of the Arts from Princeton University, and certificates in Mandarin Chinese and ESL (English as a Second Language) Instruction.

Since college graduation in 2003, Andrew has spent every year on the Pacific Rim. Among other adventures, he has studied Chinese in Taiwan, written about two surf seasons on the North Shore of Oahu, circumnavigated Australia in a panel van, and served as a boarding parent at Hawaii Preparatory Academy.

He has worked in public and private schools at home and abroad, including a year at a private Taiwanese school, two years in the Central District of Oahu, three years in Big Island schools, and now seven years at Maui Prep.

Andrew reads voraciously, surfs avidly, and plays guitar with gusto. He lives with his wife (a fellow educator) and three year-old daughter in Napili. He is a freelance journalist, having been published in the Lahaina News, Maui Time, The Honolulu Weekly, the Big Island Weekly and Surfer Magazine.
