Maui Prep’s performing arts teacher, Vania Lee Jerome, performs and teaches to inspire others with the high standards and integrity she applies in her own life, whether working with children in preschool through 12th grade or with international stars of opera, jazz, folk, and more.
A conductor, accompanist, composer, and arranger, Vania is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (A.C.D.A.) and National Association for Music Education (M.E.N.C.). She has taught private vocal coaching in all musical genres, has accompanied and coached stage productions, taught at elementary and middle school levels, and provided private piano instruction to students aged five to eighty-two. From Mozart to gospel, Hawaiian to opera, Vania’s talents have been recognized with various awards. She has been part of many musicals offered on Maui in the past decade, including ‘Ulalena, and she continues to coach and perform. Her work has been heard on radio, and she has toured the U.S. and Europe, including, by invitation of the Vatican, leading Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
A graduate of U.C.L.A. (B.A., M.M.), Vania has conducted rehearsals and performances for chorale, chamber singers, and summer workshops, coached diction in Italian, German, and French, accompanied for voice and instrumental studios, recitals and auditions, and conducted orchestras and choirs. Vania is an accomplished pianist, vocalist, composer and arranger, actress, and tennis player.
