Carnival Maui style!

Carnival Maui style!

Did you attend Maui Preparatory Academy’s Winter Gala Carnival? If you didn’t, you missed out on the party of the year!

The Gala is one of the school’s premier fundraising and “friend-raising” events held each year to raise funds benefiting Maui Prep’s financial aid and scholarship fund. This is an important event for the school because, without significant contributions to this fund, Maui Prep would not be able to make a difference in the lives of over 40% of its current student body.

Winter Gala Carnival 2017 was a hallmark year for fundraising and brought in record-breaking amounts. This effort was successful, not only because of all the generous donors at the event, but also because of the Graham Family Foundation’s matching grant campaign. The ballroom that evening was alive with many donors bidding on packages – Chef Jojo and a handcrafted meal was the highest bid package (twice) – as well as simply, generous friends and ‘Ohana of Maui Prep supporting the school and all it represents to this community. The evening was only a success because of all who donated, and Maui Prep is deeply grateful.

Central Pacific Bank was honored during the evening for providing Maui Prep with a pathway to sustainability and becoming our most valued partner. CEO Katherine Ngo, Kyle Sakamoto, and Brandon Higashi were personally thanked for their attention to our cause, their patience, and support. We now understand the true meaning of a “community bank”.

Thank you to Warren Gibson and Ryan Kirkham, who teamed up again for the LIVE auction event and to our ever-loved photographers Valerie Leon and Ray Chin. A huge mahalo goes out to all the volunteers that spent many hours making the event into a beautiful evening and in particular, Kim Zeigler (Event Chair), Lisa Gibson and Kari Adams (Planning Committee), and the “Gala Girls,” Stacy Casco, Cathi Minami, Michele Pupunu, Lynne Twigg and Jenny Worth. Thank you also to everyone that donated to both the silent and live auction, the table sponsors and the event sponsors; none of this would have be possible without your generosity.
