Welcome to our website. If you are a current Lower School parent or interested in becoming a part of our ‘ohana, this website is designed to answer many of the questions you may have about Maui Prep’s Lower School.
Located on our beautiful campus in Napili, Maui Preparatory Academy’s Lower School consists of Kindergarten through 5th grade. The Maui Prep Lower School program is centered on our commitment to engage students in a rigorous academic program with an emphasis on developing essential reading and writing skills; developing verbal fluency; learning advanced technology skills; developing essential mathematical concepts and skills; developing historical concepts of time sequencing and geography; introducing the wonders and mysteries of science; nurturing foundations in movement and physical conditioning; and giving students a well-grounded exposure to visual art, music and drama. Our Lower School is committed to 21st Century education, particularly in using the project-based learning (PBL) approach. A PBL classroom emphasizes learning activities that are long-term, interdisciplinary and student-centered.
Maui Prep focuses on the whole child, with an understanding that every child is unique and learns differently. Our class sizes are small, and our teachers differentiate their instruction to meet the needs of all of our dynamic learners. Students learn to use their many abilities and talents in ways that foster their learning in this positive environment.

Maui Prep’s ability to stretch students in a “learning is fun environment” encourages students to become lifetime learners. Supplementing our rigorous curriculum with field trips, experiential learning and enrichment activities adds to students’ enjoyment of the Maui Prep experience. Learning to love school early will carry our students far beyond their years in the Lower School.
An intangible component in the Lower School is the wide spread expectation that every student will be going to college after high school graduation. Instilling that distant expectation within an entire peer group is important in building a strong early foundation in a child’s education.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions. Thank you for your interest in our school.
