Susie Jones

Ms. Susie Jones is a career Educator who is serving as the Director of Residential Life for our  Boarding Program. She finds the position to be unique, challenging and rewarding. The primary role as the Director is to support and guide the boarders in their day to day lives at Maui Prep. Resident Faculty life is not just a job; it is an interesting lifestyle!

After 21 years of teaching PE, Health, Psychology and Coaching, the Boarding Life experience presented itself, and Susie became the Director at Hawaii Pacific Academy on Hawaii island. Seeking change and a new challenge after ten remarkable years at HPA she moved to San Anselmo, California and became the Director of Residential Life at San Domenico School, the oldest Independent school in California. These two different boarding models offered many memorable experiences. From a program of 30 coed middle school boarders, who traversed the amazing big island, to working with 100 high school girls living in 3 large dorms, who took taxi’s into San Francisco to explore the city, shop at Union Square and eat great Chinese food, these 2 models taught Susie a whole lot about Boarding life. The diversity with local islanders, mainlanders and International boarding students and all the cultures they represent was the most special thing about boarding life at those two schools.

Maui Prep offered Susie a new opportunity to work at another great school, the challenge to start a brand new Boarding Program, a return to paradise, and an opportunity to help the school get on the map as a terrific day and boarding school on Maui Island.

Susie was raised in Gig Harbor, Washington and credits who she is to her beloved family, lifelong friendships, her education, being a teacher, athletic participation and living in Hawaii with aloha. Her credo is “just say yes to life and live fully with gratitude, joy, and humor!”
