Emily Homza, 2nd Grade

Emily Homza, First Grade

Emily Homza

Emily Homza is a native of Richmond, Virginia, but her heart belongs to the beach. She joins the Maui Prep ‘Ohana after teaching both third grade and kindergarten in an inner-city elementary school, where she worked with an incredibly dedicated faculty. After teaching kindergarten for three years, Emily is energized by the natural transition to first grade and looks forward to the amazing growth of her students.

Her route to teaching was not always direct, as her love for cooking and eating led her to work as a pastry chef at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. While in the beautiful mountains of Asheville, she attended Warren Wilson College and earned her Bachelor of Arts in the Humanities. Eventually, Emily realized her desire to teach young children and moved home to Richmond where she received her Masters of Teaching in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.

When she’s not in the classroom, you can find Emily at the beach, in the kitchen, spending time with her family here in Napili, watching baseball, reading, drawing and painting, or enjoying all kinds of interesting music.
