Enrichment Clubs
To further enrich and broaden our students’ experiences, a variety of programs are offered to lower school students once or twice a week after school in approximately eight-week sessions. Sports, clay work, drama, cooking, computer, origami, woodworking, keyboarding, painting, flag football, gardening and yoga are examples of the programs that have been offered. Maui Prep produces an annual full scale musical production to students for grades 2-5 which includes an audition. Past productions have included Cinderella, Aristocats, Jungle Book, and 101 Dalmations. Teachers and parent volunteers supervise these programs and clubs. A nominal fee is applied for most programs or clubs.
In a similar way, middle school students are offered a wide variety of after school programs in which to participate. In the past, these have included gardening, art classes, cooking, drama, yoga and surfing. Middle school students can also participate in various sports such as cross-country running, volleyball, basketball, and track and field. Maui Prep competes in the Independent Middle School League against other Maui private schools.
Another major activity for middle school students is the Annual Science Olympiad. Students from our Middle School were victorious in regional and state competitions in 2010 and 2011 and qualified to compete at the National competition in Illinois and then Wisconsin. The club starts meeting in December to prepare for their spring competitions.
