A Maui Prep student’s learning experience extends beyond the math or social studies classroom. Many of our students participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities throughout the year. Enrichment clubs are offered to all students and, in the past, have included gardening, cooking, martial arts, dance, drama, and hiking.
Besides clubs which meet on a regular basis, Maui Prep has a many other venues in which students can participate. Maui Prep students have represented the school in county and state competitions in events such as the Meadow Gold Milk Carton Regatta and the Hawaii State Science Olympiad. Upper classmen may be eligible to participate in the National Honor and National Art Honor Societies.
The entire school ohana participates in the lively festivities of International Day and May Day. The various student governing bodies at Maui Prep also organize fun-filled, often crazy, events that create memories and build school spirit. Students and faculty alike enjoy participating in Spirit Days such as Twin Day and Crazy Hair Day.
As an independent school, Maui Prep students have the opportunity to engage in class field trips on a regular basis. It might be snorkeling on Maui’s wonderful coral reefs, hiking in the rain forest or attending a concert or art show at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center; Maui Prep faculty are constantly seeking ways to enhance a student’s learning outside of the classroom. At the end of the major transitional years – 5th, 8th and 12th grades – classes usually take part in multiday trips that, in the past, have included Oahu, Boston and New York.
