Pueo Athletics
Maui Prep Pueo athletes compete in ten varsity sports in the Maui Interscholastic League (MIL) Division II. All upper school students are required to play one sport each year, although most scholar-athletes will compete in multiple.
Practices are held every day under the direction of qualified coaches at various facilities on the west side, including the Bozich Center and Lahaina Aquatic Center. Venues for MIL competitions are located on Maui, Lana'i, and Moloka'i.
Maui Prep student-athletes are supported by Athletics Director Zach Bailey and Athletic Trainer Annalisa Figueroa.
Fall Sports
CHEERLEADING
Maui Prep debuted its first cheer squad in 2021. In addition to MIL competition, the cheer squad performed at pep rallies and assemblies.
CROSS COUNTRY
Under the direction of Coach Rob Lloyd, runners enjoy scenic vistas while running the hills of the Village Course at Kapalua and the beach walk hugging the coastline through Ka'anapali. Maui Prep runners make a strong showing in MIL competition and state meets.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
The women's volleyball commands the Bozich Center during the fall with Varsity and Junior Varsity squads. Participation promotes camaraderie and competition.

Winter Sports
PADDLING
A unique Hawaiian sport, paddling is the ultimate team effort. With traditional outrigger canoes and paddles, the Maui Prep paddling team stands out as a powerful contender in the ocean.
The Maui Prep Girls Paddling team earned a state championship bid for the first time in school history in 2024
BASKETBALL
Varsity Boys' Basketball was added to the Maui Prep line-up in 2019, with an impressive run to the MIL Division II championship game. Two years later, the team was crowned the HHSAA Division II State Champions after a perfect 17-0 season.
Drew Triplett ('22) is a two-time MIL Player of the Year (2020, 2022) and All-Hawaii State Division II Player of the Year (2022)
SWIMMING
Despite being the smallest high school on Maui, Maui Prep Pueo are contenders on the MIL scene. Longtime coach, Michael "Tex" Ritter coaches from the deck of the Lahaina Aquatic Center, with MIL meets in Lahaina and Kihei.
Spring Sports
GOLF
Pueo golfers hone their game at the world-class Bay Course at Kapalua under the instruction of Coach Chris Armanini.
The 2023 Boys Golf team defended its MIL title, and finished second in HHSAA team competition behind the stellar play of Renner Chumley '25 who finished fourth.
SURFING
Maui Prep Pueo have dominated the only high school-sanctioned surf league in the nation. Surfers have earned both individual and team awards and recognition at meets held at famous breaks across Maui.

TENNIS
Calling the renowned Kapalua Tennis Garden home, the Maui Prep Tennis Team holds their own in the highly competitive league. For both beginners and experienced players, foundations for the lifelong sport of tennis are established and refined.
