1st week THEME: BLAST OFF INTO SUMMER
We will learn about different planets and make our own telescopes. We will get to know our fellow summer of excellence members through welcome activities, making slime, creating suncatchers and explosions! Summer participants will compete against each other in a game about planets. Friday is all about rockets! We will use Mentos and Coca-Cola to make an explosion. We will also create model rockets to take home as a souvenir.

Take a trip to the Wild West! During our Wild, Wild West week we will learn about ghost town legends. We will go panning for gold and play a wild game of tic tac toe. We will have barrel races using pool noodles and buckets! On Friday we will dress in our best Wild West outfits. Cowboys and cowgirls, get ready for the rodeo!
3rd week: THEME: AROUND THE WORLD
Let’s travel around the world. Summer students will get to visit Europe and make pasta towers. We will travel to Asia and Africa where we will make Chinese dragon puppets and DIY African drums! We will set sail to South America to make totem poles and rain sticks. On Friday we will travel down under to Australia where we will make boomerangs and hop like kangaroos to the finish line.

This week we compete in the summer Olympics! We will have our opening ceremonies. Students will make their own Olympic torches. We will have a day full of javelin throws and ring toss competitions. On Friday we will walk to SHOEMAKER FIELD where we will end the week with closing ceremony games!
