Performing Arts Gearing Up for Matilda JR.

After poring over video auditions from more than 25 students in grades 6-12, Director and Choreographer Mrs. Nathalie Smith and Musical Director Mrs. Sarah Gowans have released the cast list. The Matilda production is ensemble-heavy, with the supporting cast bringing the "reign of terror" of Mrs. Trunchbull at Crunchem Hall to life. Matilda the Musical debuted on Broadway on April 11, 2013, at the Shubert Theatre. It was a critical success, winning four Tony Awards.

In between rehearsals during their elective blocks, the cast is diving into their characters, crafting backstories, and truly stepping into their roles. The students are also contributing to the play's marketing and design aspects. Sixth through tenth graders in Mrs. Smith's X-block are designing the set and props for the Graham Theater stage to transport the audience to Crunchem Hall when they enter the Bozich Center.

Matilda Jr. is set for November 21, 22, and 23 at the Bozich Center. Tickets will be available starting November 1.
