  The 'Imi Ola Fund is Maui Prep's unrestricted annual giving fund. It acts much like an operating checking account — separate from the school's permanent endowment — and provides the essential foundation for our annual budget. Gifts of any size, from every part of our 'ohana, bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the true cost of running the school.

• Q: Who is asked to give to the 'Imi Ola Fund?

   Every member of the Maui Prep 'ohana — trustees, faculty, staff, alumni, and current parents. Our goal this year, and every year, is 100% participation from faculty, staff, and current families. It's not about the size of the gift; it's about everyone standing behind our students together.

• Q: If I already pay tuition, why does Maui Prep need additional support?

  Tuition covers approximately 75% of the actual cost of providing a Maui Prep education. As an independent school, we rely on voluntary gifts like the 'Imi Ola Fund to close that gap and fund the people and programs that make Maui Prep more than a classroom experience — from financial aid to championship travel to campus safety.

• Q: What does my gift actually support?

  Your gift to the 'Imi Ola Fund directly funds immediate, budgeted needs across six pillars:

  • Academic Excellence — 1:1 college counseling, the Graham Center for Creativity, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, the Narayan Design Lab, academic support and paraprofessionals, AP class access, and Hawaiian Studies
  • Arts — musical instruments, production licensing, costume/set/props materials, art supplies, and May Day and Arts Night support
  • Athletics — game day and state championship travel, athletic training and PE access, sports equipment, game replay and statistics software, and experienced coaching
  • Facility Maintenance and Improvement — campus security, health and safety inspections, HVAC tuning and replacement, grounds enhancements, and interior classroom updates
  • Financial Aid — 43% of Maui Prep students receive some form of tuition assistance
  • Classrooms and Teachers — professional enrichment for teachers and administrators, K–5 school supplies, CPR training for faculty and staff, and enhanced preschool–12th grade curriculum

  It also supports everyday essentials like faculty salaries and campus utilities — the foundation everything else is built on.

  A high participation rate is a visible sign of community confidence in Maui Prep, and it's a factor many outside foundations and grantors look at when considering support for the school. A gift of any amount counts toward our 100% participation goal and helps unlock additional resources for our students.
