Parent Volunteer Resources

Volunteers Bring the 'Ohana Experience to Life at Maui Prep

Our campus is fueled by the passion and commitment of our parent volunteers. By sharing their unique talents and perspectives, they enrich the Maui Prep experience for every student.

We invite all to contribute to our campus community and become part of our two volunteer-led organizations: the Parent Teacher Student 'Ohana (PTSO) and the Booster Club. They oversee the labor force that supports Performing Arts, Athletics, community events sponsored by Advancement and more!

Volunteer Hours Commitment

Our superior programs and generous financial aid depend on the participation of volunteers who help us bring them to life. We kindly ask that all families make volunteering for various programs at Maui Prep a priority. Families receiving financial aid are asked to give 15 hours per student over the 2026–2027 school year.

While this may seem intimidating at first, there are ample opportunities during the day, after school, and into the evenings and weekends for you to pitch in. You'll also get to immerse yourself in our community and meet other parents along the way.

Download the Mobile Serve app, which allows for easy tracking of your service hours.

That said, there are a few areas we hope you'll enjoy in the spirit of community, but which do not count toward your service obligation:
  • Attending or providing food/games for class holiday parties
  • Musical theater production strike
  • Attending field trips with your child
  • Attending PTSO meetings
Ava Merrill, Director of Admissions, is overseeing the volunteer requirement. She will be verifying hours and helping you connect with opportunities.

PTSO (Parent Teacher Student 'Ohana)

PTSO (Parent Teacher Student 'Ohana)

Welcome to the Maui Prep Parent Teacher Student 'Ohana (PTSO)!

The PTSO is a parent-led organization dedicated to enriching the lives and education of every child at Maui Prep. We support our students, teachers, and staff, and serve the broader school mission by fostering a strong sense of community, celebrating our school spirit, and helping where we're needed most. As a parent or legal guardian, you are automatically a member of the PTSO, along with all Maui Prep faculty and staff.

How We Support Our 'Ohana

The PTSO works to make a tangible impact on campus by supporting our teachers and students.
  • Teacher & Student Support: We give back to the Maui Prep community through initiatives like our annual teacher grants  and a senior scholarship ($1,500 awarded to three recipients). We also celebrate our incredible educators with a week-long celebration during Teacher Appreciation Week and "Random Acts of Teacher Care" throughout the year.
  • Campus Events & Spirit: We coordinate events that bring our community together, from seasonal campus decorations and the International Day potluck to Lower School Reading Nights, dances, and the End of Year water day.
  • Fundraising: Our fundraising efforts, including the Ohana Directory publication, May Day Lei Shop, PTSO T-shirt sales, and Marquee messages, directly support our initiatives.

Ways to Get Involved

We believe that every parent's involvement is key to our success. Here are a few simple ways you can pitch in:
  • Attend Meetings: Come to our monthly PTSO meetings to connect with other parents, hear from school administration, and learn about upcoming events and volunteer opportunities. We typically meet the first Tuesday of each month at 8:30 a.m. behind the Otto Administration Building.
  • Volunteer Your Time: We always need help with events like Lower School dances, Reading Nights, and decorating the campus.
  • Support Our Fundraisers: Help us reach our goals by advertising in the Ohana Directory, donating gently used uniforms, wishing your child a Happy Birthday on the marquee, or participating in our "Keep the Change" fundraiser.
Your involvement, no matter how big or small, makes a real difference in the lives of our children and our school community. We can't wait to see you at our next meeting!

Booster Club

Booster Club

Welcome to the Maui Prep Booster Club!

The Booster Club is a parent-led organization that champions Maui Prep Athletics and Performing Arts. Our mission is to raise funds, provide volunteer support, and boost enthusiasm for our students' endeavors in all grades.

How We Support Our 'Ohana

Every dollar the Booster Club raises goes directly back to our school community.
  • Support for Arts, Performing Arts, & Athletics: We fund everything from team uniforms and gear to travel expenses for state championships. We also provide support for our musical theater productions with cast party sponsorships and display racks for student art showcases.
  • School Events & Community Spirit: The Booster Club helps bring our community together by hosting concessions and providing hospitality at major school events such as Trunk or Treat, Ho'ike Celebration, and Graduation. We also handle the weekly Snack Shack at Friday assemblies.

Ways to Get Involved

We can't do what we do without you! Here are a few ways to get involved and show your support:
  • Volunteer at the Snack Shack: Sign up to help at our concession stand during weekly Friday assemblies or evening sporting events and performances.
  • Become a Team Parent: Assist a Pueo athletic team with locker decorations, senior posters, pre- or post-competition meals, and recognition at Friday assemblies.
  • Support Performing Arts: Help with costumes, props, or sets for theater productions, hang flyers around town, or provide meals during Tech Week.
  • Be an Event Photographer: Capture our kids in action at sporting events, performances, or concerts.
