About

Who We Are

Maui Prep is an independent, coeducational day school offering a college-preparatory program for students in preschool through high school.

About Maui Prep

  • Our school is divided into four robust programs:
  • Maui Prep welcomed 18 middle school students in 2005.  Classes were originally held in banquet spaces in the now-demolished Kapalua Bay Hotel.
  • Maui Land & Pineapple Company donated the 20 acres of land and existing buildings for the development of the school.
  • Maui Prep is a nonprofit organization governed by a Board of Trustees made up of parents and community leaders concerned about the quality of education each child receives at Maui Prep.
  • Accreditations: WASC, HAIS, and NAIS

    Relationships

Relationships are the core of the Maui Prep experience. Small class sizes allow students to forge lasting connections with their peers across all grade levels, teachers, and other members of our ‘ohana. These relationships are nurtured by our close-knit community and a campus that allows for regular interaction between elementary, middle, and high school students. Our faculty members also have a strong sense of each student’s personality and communicate often about their well-being and progress, providing a close support system.

    Empowerment

Empowerment at Maui Prep is about giving students the ability, authority, and agency to make decisions, implement changes, and pursue their passions. We foster an environment that empowers students to advocate for themselves and develop clear and relevant communication and analytical skills. Our teachers have the flexibility to pivot and respond to current events and the unique culture of Maui, ensuring that learning is always relevant and connected to the world around them.

    Relevance

Maui Prep students engage in a relevant academic curriculum and diverse extracurricular activities that encourage them to think locally and act globally. Cross-curricular learning is highly encouraged, especially by integrating Maui’s unique culture and ecosystem. Our educators tailor their instruction to the interests of the students, often pivoting to address current events and ensuring classroom learning is always relevant and connected to the world around them. Problem-based and experiential learning are central to our approach, encouraging students to solve real-world problems.
