Maui Prep's Pueo Girls Volleyball team is gearing up for a significant challenge and a prime opportunity for growth at the 3rd Annual Island Classic High School Varsity Girls Volleyball Tournament. The team is headed to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the two-day event, held on August 29-30, 2025.
Hosted by Koa Foundation Inc., the tournament will feature 32 elite teams from programs with strong ties to Hawai'i and the Polynesian community. With matches held at Liberty and Coronado High Schools, each team is guaranteed to play six matches, providing an excellent platform for the Pueo girls to hone their skills.
Tournaments like this are crucial for developing a team's game. They offer a concentrated period of high-level competition that serves as an invaluable training ground for the upcoming MIL (Maui Interscholastic League) season. The demanding schedule and guaranteed matches will help the athletes build stamina and endurance. Playing a variety of opponents will also force them to make quick, in-game adjustments to their strategy, a skill essential for success. This concentrated training will prepare the team to face the varied competition they will see during MIL season play.
