Community Cheers on Pueo Volleyball: A Showcase of Spirit

What a fantastic Friday night! Our Tailgate Celebration was a wonderful success, from honoring our seniors to cheering on our volleyball team—it was a true showcase of Pueo spirit and community.
We were especially thrilled to see so many of our Lower School families turning up in full force!

Attendees enjoyed a free BBQ with hamburgers and hot dogs expertly grilled by BOT President Tim Hehemann and parent Keith Hertz (father of Naiya Hertz, Grade 10). The festive atmosphere outside included bounce houses and a game of fowling (a mix of football and bowling) for all ages. Adding to the energy, the Student Senate launched their annual Book Fair in perfect timing with the tailgate to support their big events ahead: Homecoming and Prom.

The action then moved inside the Bozich Center. The evening began with a meaningful opening as newly hired Hawaiian Studies Kumu Wilmon Kahaiali'i performed the Star-Spangled Banner and Hawai'i Pono'ī. After honoring the senior girls, the crowd settled in for the anticipated match against our visiting friends, the Moloka'i Farmers.

The Pueo delivered a fantastic performance, securing a victory in straight sets before a raucous home crowd!

Mahalo to Our Community

A huge mahalo goes out to those who made this successful community event possible:
  • Hector Salas and Victor Andrade for the hard work setting everything up.
  • Tim Hehemann (Board President) and Keith Hertz for manning the grill.
  • Our teams in Advancement, Marketing, and Admissions, along with Mr. Kirkham, Kumu Wilmont, the Boosters, Athletic Director Anthony Venticinque, and Athletic Trainer Hannah Arnett for ensuring everything ran smoothly.
  • And finally, the Student Senate for launching the Book Fair!
