Big Weekend for Pueo Athletics
It’s a massive weekend ahead for Maui Prep as our student-athletes compete across the island for MIL titles and state berths. Here is everything you need to know to cheer on the Pueo:
Golf: Championship Bound
Nine Maui Prep golfers have officially advanced to the final weekend of the MIL Championships. After a strong showing, these athletes will take on the final two rounds of play:
- Friday: Wailea Gold Golf Academy
- Saturday: Makena Golf & Beach Club
The Field: Seniors Tehya Chumley, Ava Kawahara, Sacha Salem, and Sofia Mallari lead the charge, alongside Kelsey Reul, Milo Merrill, Aaron Hall, Kaina Yamada, and Johnny Matthews.
- Girls Team: Already secured the MIL Team Championship! They have earned an automatic berth to the State Championships at the Kaneohe Klipper.
- Boys Team: To advance to states, the boys must finish in the Top 15 during this final weekend of play.
Surfing: Harbor Showdown
The boys' surfing team heads to Lahaina Harbor for the final team competition of the season. They are looking to clinch their second MIL team title in four years.
- The Stakes: A team title secures an automatic berth to the State Championships.
- Individual Qualifiers: Congratulations to Zolten Poulsen, Zoey Offergeld, and Sloane Jucker, who have already qualified for states individually. The remaining state team members will be announced following the Lahaina Harbor results.
Track & Field
Our runners, jumpers, and throwers are back in action for Meet #5 this weekend. The team continues to shave off seconds and hit personal bests as they gear up for the post-season.
Tennis
The Pueo tennis squad heads to Kamehameha Schools Maui this weekend for the MIL Individual Championships. It’s a win-or-go-home bracket as our athletes compete for individual glory and a spot in the state tournament.
