Pueo Athletics Wrapping up Regular Season with Titles!

Many Pueo athletes moving on to the post-season!

Girls Golf

The Pueo Girls Golf team has achieved a historic three-peat championship title, concluding yet another undefeated season. The team dominated the individual championships yesterday, with the Pueo Wahine taking the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th place spots.

Ava Kawahara ('26) made history as the first Pueo to capture an individual golf championship. Ava shot even par over three rounds, punctuated by a stunning 5-under par performance in her final round.

Other top finishers included Sacha Salem (3rd), Tehya Chumley (4th), Kelsey Reul (5th), Sofia Mallari (6th). All girls have qualified for the state meet held May 5–6 at the Kaneohe Klipper at the Kaneohe Bay Marine Base. Congratulations to Coach Jeff Hall for leading the team through another amazing season.

Boys Golf

On the boys' side, freshman Aaron Hall secured a 2nd place finish and has qualified for the state tournament held May 12–13 at the Kaneohe Klipper. Other strong finishers for the Pueo included Johnny Matthews in 15th place, Milo Merrill in 21st, and Kaina Yamada (26th).

Surfing

Lahaina Harbor was buzzing yesterday as the boys' surf team finished a dominant season on the water. Led by captain and individual MIL Champion Zolten Poulsen ('26), the Pueo boys finished the final contest in the same way they finished every other meet this year: in 1st place. With this MIL victory, the team earned automatic bids to the state championship held May 1–2 at Ho'okipa.

The girls' surf team finished an incredibly close 4th overall for the season, ending up only two points shy of the championship title. The MIL championship came down to the final event of the meet, and while the 4th place finish was the final result, it does not reflect how close the race truly was.

Sloane Jucker won her heat, and teammates Zoey, Layla, and Ilana all advanced to the finals. Several girls earned state qualifying bids at the individual contest, including Sloane Jucker and Layla Merrill for Shortboard, and Zoey Offergeld and Sloane Jucker for Longboard. Special thanks to coaches Lindy Sprenger, Leslie Hainsworth, Benny Martin, and Dylan Payne.

Tennis

Zolten Poulsen reached the quarter-finals of his tournament but chose to default his match in order to lead the surf team to their MIL victory. Additionally, Kestrel Marshall and Madison Goldsmith have both qualified for the state tennis tournament.

Track and Field

The Track and Field team has one final meet remaining on the schedule before they head into the MIL Championships on May 1–2.
