UH Maui College Shares Dual Enrollment Opportunities

Representatives from the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College visited campus to walk Pueo students and families through the UH dual enrollment program.
Upper School students and parents attended the session, which covered the opportunities available across the UH system and highlighted each campus’s specialty focus.

Dual enrollment lets students earn college credit while still in high school, and those credits can transfer to universities across the country. Students can choose from a wide variety of courses, including business, marketing, statistics, graphic design, advanced math, and more. Offerings span the entire UH system, including the campuses on Oʻahu, so students can explore subjects beyond what a typical high school schedule allows.

Students become eligible beginning in their sophomore year with a recommendation. To support families, Maui Prep will reimburse college class expenses up to $500 per year. Because these courses are taken as independent study, students are responsible for managing their own coursework and keeping pace with their college classes. It’s a valuable chance to build time management and self-direction skills before graduation.

Dual enrollment is a great way for Pueo to get a head start on college, explore potential majors, and challenge themselves academically. Students interested in learning more should reach out to their advisor or the college counseling office.
