Boys cross country hit the Hana Relay this weekend and "8th out of 80 teams" doesn't even cover it... they were the YOUNGEST team on that entire course, I heard that half of them are still growing into their uniforms and they still finished 8th. Goal time was around 7 hours. They ran it in 6 hours, 2 minutes. They didn't just beat the goal, they beat it by an hour, then kept driving.

They were up at 3:30am to make it to the start line, so if the photos below show teenagers yawning in full compression sleeves like they're being smuggled somewhere, that's accurate reporting, not bad photography!

Now, volleyball. We played Molokai twice this weekend and Saturday deserves its own 30-for-30. Friday night: no drama, straight sets, in and out. Saturday morning: we dropped the first two sets and were, by every reasonable measure, as the kids say it, cooked! Then the girls decided to play and ripped off three straight — survived the third, blew the fourth open by nine, and slammed the door in the fifth by eight. A full reverse sweep. Coach Kirkham is convinced it's because of the Molokai hot bread the girls got the night before, he just can't decide if it weighed them down early or fueled the comeback. Either way, we are absolutely buying it again for the next trip. For science.

Zoey Offergeld: 17 kills, 4 aces, 2 digs. Seventeen kills in one weekend — Molokai's back row should be issued hazard pay at this point.

Ashley Davis (setter): 35 assists, 3 kills, 3 aces. 35 assists and she still had time to rack up kills and aces on the side — girl's playing three positions and making it look like one.

Ocean Violi: 9 kills, 1 ace, 1 block. With a last name like Violi, of course she can play every part of the game.

Reese Berliner: 6 kills, 3 aces, 1 dig. Doesn't need the spotlight, just needs the ball — and apparently the serve line too.

Kelsey Reul (libero): 13 digs, 2 kills. The floor has officially filed a restraining order.

Juliette Jucker: 1 kill, 4 aces. Short stat line, loud statement
