Greetings and Gratitude

A big shaka and an even bigger mahalo to each of you who has supported Maui Preparatory Academy. Whether through your time, resources, encouragement, or generosity, your impact is felt in every classroom, every program, and every student’s journey.
Your donations do more than keep the lights on, they help elevate every aspect of what we do. They support teachers who go the extra mile, programs that push our students to think deeply and dream big, and experiences that shape who they will become. Supporting Maui Prep is not just about sustaining a school, it’s about building the future of our island, one child at a time.
I’ve now been at Maui Prep for six years, and what I continue to witness is extraordinary. When passionate educators and curious students come together in a supportive environment, magic happens. We work hard to move students forward. We help carry them when they need it and encourage them to take flight when they are ready. At the core of it all is a deep commitment to doing what is best for students first and always. This is the heartbeat of Maui Prep.

Head of School

Recently, someone asked me, “Why do you do it?”
It starts with three incredible human beings. Two are Maui Prep alumni—joyful, thoughtful, wise, compassionate souls. I know that who they have become is due in no small part to their time at Maui Prep—where they were loved and challenged by faculty, where they made lasting memories with friends, and where they always knew they had a safe place to be fully themselves.
My third reason is still in the process. I watch him navigate this place with curiosity, humor, and a real desire to learn and grow (well, most of the time—he is a 12-year-old boy). But I know, with full confidence, that whoever he chooses to become will be celebrated by the teachers and coaches who have poured so much love and attention into him.
And “my why" does not stop with my own kids. It continues with every child who steps onto this campus. My hope is that by showing up and doing my job to the very best of my ability—(remember that when I call and ask you for money)—every single student can access the kind of experience my kids have had.
“My why" is the joy on the Lower School quad during recess. “My why" is the (often hilarious) conversations I overhear from Middle and Upper School students walking past my office. My why is the moment a child scores their first ace, is cast in the school musical, or earns the grade they worked so hard for. That’s why I still do it. And that’s why I always will.
